Welcome
The Senate is the elected student government of the University of Rhode Island, representing the interests of the undergraduate student body to the University, local community, and even to state and national lawmakers. The purpose of the Senate is to advocate student issues, encourage student participation in University policy making, and to raise awareness of students' role in the University community. In addition to debating and voting on legislation, student senators work on projects from the various areas of campus life in order to improve the URI community and address problems. The Senate also grants official recognition status to student organizations and provides funding for recognized groups and campus activities.
