The Senate creates & maintains many programs to improve the daily life of URI students. The services maintained by the Senate are funded by the Student Activities Tax. Senate services include free legal advice, motorist vehicle assistance, free newspapers, and campus safety & transportation, as well as academic resources and student disciplinary advocacy. Below is a full list with links to the details on each service.

Do you need legal advice? The Senate retains a lawyer specifically for student use. Students can make an appointment for a confidential meeting at the Senate Office.

Locked your keys in your car? Flat tire? Snowed in? Run out of gas? The Senate has paid for a motorist assistance vehicle for students with auto-troubles.

The Senate worked to bring RIPTA shuttles onto the campus and now monitors the program to ensure quality service.

Student Senate provides free newspapers-- The Good 5 Cent Cigar, USA Today, NY Times, & Financial Times-- in kiosks around campus.

Academic Advocacy
For students with academic concerns including grades, syllabi, disciplinary charges, or other issues in the classroom, the Academic Affairs Chair can advise and assist you.
